2018 was a great year! The United States had record low unemployment numbers, while the #Metoo movement gained quick momentum. From the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to losing the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, 2018 was a memorable year. It was also a memorable year for dance. Take a look back with us at some of our favorite dance events of 2018.
1. Dance-O-Rama, Texas – February
Texans do everything BIG and this event was no exception! The Texas Dance-O-Rama was a down-home event full of dancing, BBQ, and music. For the first time in years the event hosted the Arthur Murray County Western Professional Championship. Winners and the top instructor received an official Arthur Murray belt buckle. Now that’s a nod to Texas!
2. Valentine’s Team Match – February
Our Team Match on the day of love was a great In-Studio event where students had the chance to meet and bond with other Arthur Murray members and instructors. Look for more In-Studio events in 2019. These events are a great way to introduce yourself to Arthur Murray activities!
3. Summer Showcase, Hanover – August
An Arthur Murray Showcase is a celebration of dance! Our Summer Showcase was no different and gave students a chance to prepare and perform a routine for their peers. Dance routines ranged from simple and silly to dramatic and complex. Each routine is a way of expressing the dancers love for dance!
4. Garden State Invitational, Hanover – September
Our one-day ballroom dance competitions are all about full immersion into the dance world. Guests get dressed up and enjoy a night of dinner and dancing. You don’t have to compete to attend, or to enjoy yourself. Students come from all over in hopes of winning this fast-paced competition.
5. Superama, Las Vegas, NV – October
The dance championship in Las Vegas was themed Copacabana, which made for a bold and bright event that did not disappoint. With over 260 studios from 22 countries around the world, dancers from all over competed in various styles including Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, and Tango. Musical performances, flamboyant costumes and a lot of dancing made this a fantastic event!
2019 is sure to be full of exciting dance events including the World Dance-o-Rama in San Diego and the Rock-O-Rama in Cancun. Not to mention, the In-Studio events we host at Arthur Murray new Jersey.
