How Much Time Does it Take to Learn to Dance?

We know that between work, family, social activities, and other obligations, it can be hard to find the time to devote yourself to a new hobby or passion like dance lessons. We get it! The good news is that whether you have only a few free hours a week or quite a bit of free time, we have classes that will fit anyone’s schedule.

How Much Time Do I Need to Commit?

It’s a common misconception that dance classes require lots and lots of time in the studio working with an instructor to become proficient. While that does help you become a better dancer faster, it’s not required. So how much time do you need for dance lessons? Well, would you be able to dedicate 1.5 hours a week to dance classes? If so, then one of our dance lesson packages is a great place to start.

We offer several different levels of programs depending on your previous dance experience and background. Are you able to carve out at least two hours a week, perhaps more? Then you definitely should also take advantage of our social dancing showcases, recitals, and eventDance lessons tim 1s. You’ll meet new people who share your passion for dance as well as improve your dancing abilities. Maybe you’re thinking “Darn, I can commit to 30-45 minutes a week for classes, but not more than that” – don’t be discouraged. Contact us and we will do our best to create a program that fits into your lifestyle and schedule constraints. When you think about it, there are 168 hours in a week…do you think you can give 1.5 hours (less than 1%!!) back to yourself for dancing?

Tips for New Students

Many new students feel overwhelmed with all that beginning dancing requires. But once you know the basics like what to wear, proper dance class etiquette, and what you can expect during your dance lessons, it can greatly help ease the anxiousness. If you are limited on how much time you have to dance each week, take a moment to learn what to expect so you can plan ahead and be prepared. It will undoubtedly save you time each week.

Remember, the more you dance, the faster you will grow and become confident in your dance skills. But whether you only have an hour a week or you have 4+ hours a week to dedicate to dancing, you will still advance your abilities and reap the benefits of dancing regularly like improving your heart and joint health, keeping both your brain and bones strong, reducing stress and anxiety, plus having fun while meeting new people. So what can you do today to make time for dance lessons in your life?
