What to Expect From Wedding Dance Lessons

The wedding dance is an essential part of the ceremony of a wedding. A wedding with gorgeous decor, location, food, and entertainment may fall flat without a powerful wedding dance. As the hosts of your wedding, it’s your responsibility to not only be social and gracious, but also to be entertaining and engaging, especially on the dance floor. Nothing looks sadder than an empty dance floor at the wedding.

Taking The First Step

It all starts with the first dance. And the first dance starts here, at Arthur Murray. Taking wedding dance lessons is a key strategy to making your ceremony the party of the year.

So before we begin, I need to give you a huge piece of advice: start wedding dance lessons early!

I can’t tell you how many people wander into the studio a week or two before their wedding and expect to walk out comfortable and confident dancers. This is a very risky move! If you don’t have a natural knack for dance, two weeks won’t be enough time to give you what you need. Even if you do pick up fast, what we can deliver in such a short time is extremely limited.

What To Expect From Your First Wedding Dance Lesson

Now that this has been said, what you can expect from dance lessons can be summed up in three words: the complete experience.

We don’t just teach you how to move your feet. We advise you as to the length of your song, how to walk onto the dance floor, how to walk off of the dance floor. We teach timing, showmanship, and how to handle any hiccups on the fly. We teach you how to look like you’re dancing naturally, and have experience helping you make the myriad decision that surround your ceremony. Like always, your dance instructor ends up being so much more than just someone who shows you steps.

It’s important to note that all that is only contained in the private lessons. During group classes you’ll get to dance with other people and make sure what you’ve learned together can be done with anyone, so when this uncle or that cousin asks you to dance during the reception, you’ll be ready.

And, of course, at our practice parties we’ll put time aside for you to perform your routine in front of our incredibly supportive student base. Don’t worry, we only do this when you’re ready, but its a great opportunity to see how you react under pressure. Trust me on this, you want to make sure you give your routine a test run in front of the crowd before you show it off to your family and friends on the big day.

And I can say that with experience. We all can here at Arthur Murray, because we all have been doing this for a very long time. Our expertise is at your disposal.
